FEMINIST DISABILITY RHETORICS
This presentation, created with my colleague Liz Adames for WRD 511 - Feminist Rhetorics, covers some of the intersections between feminist and disability research methodologies. In this course, we examined feminist rhetorical theories as well as feminist rhetorical practices and traditions in the U.S. and in other geopolitical contexts.
For this project, Liz and I facilitated our class discussion on the weeks readings with this presentation as our guide. Our goal was to clarify and explain the key arguments from our assigned readings and to explore their broader implications through small and whole group activities and discussion questions. We singled out and defined the key terms, reviewed the authors' arguments, gave students time to reflect about their own experiences and respond, and then opened up the presentation for discussion by using the carefully-designed discussion questions at the end.
